China National Petroleum Corporation was established on September 17, 1988 on the basis of the Ministry of Petroleum Industry, mainly in charge of oil and gas upstream operations.

China National Petroleum Corporation (Group)

On July 27, 1998, China National Petroleum Corporation was reorganized to become an integrated group with businesses covering oil and gas upstream and downstream operations, as well as oilfield services and engineering construction. On December 19, 2017,as approved by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council, CNPC is reorganized from an enterprise owned by the whole people to a limited liability company (wholly owned by the State). All business activities, assets, credentials, creditor’s rights, debts, etc., as of the date of reorganization will survive and be inherited by the reorganized company, with the company’s shareholders, place of business, legal representative, scope of business, etc. remaining unchanged.

PetroChina Company Limited is a joint stock limited company incorporated on November 5, 1999, upon the restructuring of the former China National Petroleum Corporation (now China National Petroleum Corporation Limited, abbreviated as “China National Petroleum Corporation” or “CNPC”). The American Depositary Receipts (“ADRs”), H-shares and A-shares issued by our Company were listed on the New York Stock Exchange (“NYSE”) on April 6, 2000, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (stock code: 857) on April 7, 2000 and the Shanghai Stock Exchange (stock code: 601857) on November 5, 2007, respectively, of which, the ADRs were delisted from the NYSE on September 8, 2022, EST.
